Other than this, I really can't think of other ways to meet people as I don't like bars. Anybody in the same boat?

FESTIVAL OF HOPE

You are invited to join us in a ceremony to honour loss and grief and celebrate hope.

6 pm Lal Lal Falls, Saturday, October 29th

The Festival of Hope is a community-initiated program designed to;
?	Raise awareness, de-stigmatise and normalize grief,
?	Connect people experiencing grief and loss with formal and
informal support systems
?	Acknowledge grief and loss and transform it into hope through
this ritual.

Everyone is invited to participate actively in a process designed to help people honor and release their grief in a supported, yet informal, environment. The four elements; earth, fire, air and water will be used.

The ritual will consist of:
* A traditional Koorie smoking ceremony and welcome designed to
cleanse, and send spirits on their journey.

* Everyone will be provided with apiece of bark and invited to write on the
bark (using ochre) anything that they wish to let go of. In their own
time, participants will then be invited to place the bark into a fire.

* The ashes from the bark will later be cast into the warers above the
falls. The water, symbolizing growth and rebirth, will then wash the bark
ashes away symbolizing ?letting go? of those issues.

* A torch will be lit and passed from the Aboriginal elder to the European
elders then to children; symbolising hope for the future. The torch will
then pass to each of the other participants in turn symbolizing grief?s
affects on all races, cultures and creeds.

* The ritual will culminate in the lighting of a "Fire Sculpture" on the bank
of the Lal Lal Creek.

The Festival of Hope Committee recognize grief and loss can be related to a wide range of issues as well as bereavement including;divorce or separation; accidents; sickness; disability; loss of youth; inability to have children; loss of employment. People experiencing these types of issues or those who may wish to attend on behalf of someone else are also warmly invited to participate.

The ceremony will be followed by a gold coin donation BBQ, provided by Ballan Lions and Lionesses.
All proceeds will be donated to Ballarat Hospice Care.

BYO CHAIR, STURDY SHOES, WARM CLOTHES AND TORCH

Are you interested in a good read? Every month I collect 10 books from the Ballarat library and distribute them to our book club members. We have only 8 in the club at the moment, so there are always some copies going begging.
Current we are reading Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie - a heart warming story of an old man's wisdom and sharing of his experience and love with his ex-student.
Each month we meet to have a chat about what is happening locally, as well as to share our thoughts on the book.
If you are interested in joining us, or even just obtaining a good recently published book once a month - they are a mix of fiction and non-fiction - give me an e-mail or call me on 53 689 773.
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7.30 pm.
cheers,

The Bacchus Marsh Pony Club has been running for over 30 years. All our equipment is wearing out and in need of updating. The Club provides a service to the local youth with a common interest in horses.
We have regular fundraisers, but are in need of some major works to make the facilities safer for the members and public.
At present we need funding for a new Begineers yard, materials for days yards (to confine the horse humanly) and paint for the finishing coat on our new Club room ceiling. We are able to construct these facilities through working bees, but the costs of materials outweighs our ability in fundraising.
All suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.
